As temperatures increase in the spring, winged Carpenter Ants will begin emerging from their nests in a mating flight. After mating, the queen will begin the parent colony outdoors in decaying wood. As the nest increases in size, worker ants will establish satellite colonies in well concealed locations near the parent colony. Wall cavities of houses and other structures are ideal for these nests.
Seeing a few ants here and there is no cause for concern. However, watch for these large black ants trailing to and from specific locations. Other signs of carpenter ants include piles of sawdust-like material and scratching noises in the walls. If you would like more information, click here to contact us.
