Pests affect human health, destroy property, and can create an intolerable living environment. It is the objective of Venables Pest Management to lessen the impact of pest problems on those we serve. However, we believe that it is only through developing and nurturing honest and trusting relationships with our customers, our co-workers, our associates, and the greater community that we can effectively achieve this objective.
Steve Venables, Owner
Steve just recently celebrated his 21st year in the pest control industry in February 2007. He has worked in the Thurston County area for this entire time. Having received his bachelors degree in Community Health Education, Steve has always embraced the method of Integrated Pest Management. He has served on many committees to develop and raise the standards within the pest control and pest inspection fields.
Juliana, Office Manager
Juliana manages the office operations and oversees most of the bookkeeping and advertising functions. After graduating from Western Washington University in 2004 with a degree in Business Administration, she joined her family’s business to put her new-learned skills to work. Outside of work, she enjoys going to dog shows with her Bouvier, Maurice, and co-leads the Thurston County 4-H group, Diamonds in the Ruff.
Marsha Venables
Marsha has played a role in the business since it first opened: from performing all of the main office duties 20 years ago to now coming in to help once a week. However, Mrs. Venables’ primary job is as a 3rd grade teacher at Pioneer Elementary School.
Bret, Inspector
Bret has been working in the pest control industry for 5 years and has become a specialist in termite and carpenter ant identification, treatment, and control. He enjoys taking on the role of a detective and being able to solve difficult pest situations. Before joining the team of inspectors at Venables Pest, he worked in golf course maintenance which opened the doors of opportunity to the world of pest management. When he’s not at work, he enjoys being outdoors hunting, fishing, or spending time with good friends and family.
Jeff, Inspector
Jeff has been working with Venables Pest Management for four years and specializes in the identification, treatment, and control of carpenter ants and subterranean termites. Jeff is a graduate from The Evergreen State College.
Terri, Service Coordinator / Inspector
Terri has been with Venables Pest Management for 2 1/2 years, but has over 13 years of experience in pest control. At VPM, she enjoys connecting with customers and helping to find solutions to their pest concerns. Her interests outside of work include gardening and creative yard art projects, reading a good book, running/walking events, and getting away with friends/family to laugh and relax. However, with a large family and a large yard, time for extra activities is limited.
Steve "Dos" Hornsby, Inspector
Steve recently celebrated his 1 year anniversary here at Venables Pest Management. Previous to working at VPM, he worked as a Commissioned Executive for the Boy Scouts of America in Pacific, Grays Harbor, and Mason Counties. Like Jeff, Steve also received his bachelors degree from The Evergreen State College. Outside of work, he enjoys volunteering with animal health and youth development activities, snowboarding, and running.
Sharon, Administrative Assistant
Sharon has been with Venables Pest Management for 3 1/2 years, helping with office duties in the afternoons. Over these last couple of years, she has particularly enjoyed learning about a variety of pests and the computer programs and their capabilities. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family (especially her grandkids!), going to garage sales, and sight seeing.
Mike, Inspector
Mike has been with Venables Pest Management for the last four summers. During the school year, he works as a teacher, then after school ends, returns to Venables Pest. When he’s not in the classroom or working in the pest control field, he enjoys doing woodworking. In fact, often times you can see his work at many craft shows around the Olympia area.
Paul, Inspector
Paul began working at Venables Pest Management six years ago, washing trucks and helping with general office maintenance. However, after graduating from Olympia High School, he received his pest control license and now works at Venables Pest Management during the summers. During the school year, Paul is a student at The Evergreen State College.
